KidsFirst Bible Classes - Thursdays 6-7:30 PM Every Thursday K4C brings in children from all across LaFayette for Bible lessons, a full nourishing meal, and opportunities to interact with strong Christian role models during recreational time. The program is open to all children between the ages of 3 and 14, no matter where they live. Kids living inside the city can be picked up by calling (706) 639-3234. Cool After School - Weekdays 3-5 PM During School Helping children make the most of their existing potential, K4C offers an after school program for kids struggling with grades. Cool After School's homework help and tutoring is offered every afternoon after school for children in 1st through 5th grade who attend North LaFayette or Gilbert Elementary. MORE... Teens in Training Older students, teens who have aged out of KidsFirst, have an opportunity to serve as teens in training. TnT's serve as student volunteers, working as assistants in K4C programs and being responsible for regular chores. TnT's are required to participate in Bible studies, job training, and other activities that help them develop leadership skills and become responsible work-ready adults. Friend 2 Friend Mentoring From its very beginnings Kids 4 Christ has been about mentoring, pairing at-risk kids with good Christian role models. Mentoring happens every day as part of KidsFirst, Cool After School, and Teens in Training. K4C's direct mentoring program, Friend2Friend, matches children with exceptional need to Christian adults who can spend time with them and their families. Friend 2 Friend is currently being redesigned with a relaunch expected sometime soon. Outings & Special Activities K4C regularly rewards kids with good attendance with trips to fun activities. Kids 4 Christ students are also given opportunities to attend summer camp and free or reduced-cost recreational activities. K4C also participates in community events such as Scare on the Square and the Freedom Festival. Each summer Kids 4 Christ helps kids in need by providing book bags and school supplies free of charge. Back 2 School Blast began in 2003 with only a handful of pencils and prizes, but has since grown into a local institution helping hundreds each year. MORE... Kids 4 Christ hosts seminars several times each year on the topic of Generational Poverty. Generational Poverty is more than a financial situation, becoming a way of life for many people. Adults and children with a background in Generational Poverty are often overlooked by the traditional church, but Bridge Conference helps Christians to rethink their ministries and begin to reach out to this important subculture. MORE... Neighborhood ADVENTURE! The Church is not a building, but the people who love and serve Christ. Taking the Gospel into places where kids live, each year K4C goes into neighborhoods around LaFayette to conduct Neighborhood ADVENTURE! activities. ADVENTURE! serves up a hot lunch, games, and a short Bible lesson to area kids while building relationships that lead to participation in other K4C activities. Clothing & Food Ministry K4C operated a clothing ministry for needy families from January 2003 until August 2004. That need is now being met by The Care Mission, a worthy ministry providing food and clothing assistance to hundreds of families each month. K4C and The Care Mission work together on many projects throughout the year, working together to reach the community for Christ. |
