Over the last seven years, hundreds of local at-risk children have been given free book bags and school supplies during Back 2 School Blast at Kids 4 Christ. Last year 274 book bags and supplies were distributed; this year's event is expected to be even bigger with plans to hand out at least 350 free bags.

But that won't be possible without YOUR help. The volunteers of Kids 4 Christ need donations of book bags, pocket portfoilios, loose leaf filler paper, and other assorted items to helps kids get the new school year off to a great start. (Thanks to last year's generous donors, crayons, pencils and glue sticks are NOT needed this year.)

Supplies or tax-deductible designated gifts can be dropped off at the Kids 4 Christ building on the corner of Cherokee and Withers St. between now and August 1st. Collection boxes are popping up in churches and businesses around town - check below for a full current list. Volunteers are also needed to help prepare, pack, and distribute supplies. Additional volunteers are invited to assist with some of the carnival type games and other activities children enjoy during Back 2 School Blast.

Back 2 School Blast 2010 will be held on August 7th at 9 AM. The Blast will feature carnival games, refreshments, face painting, an inflatable, and (of course) free book bags and supplies for school-age children. (Children who receive supplies must be present at the event.)
